NOTE REGARDING WATER TEMPERATURE
Swimming Brisbane wish to advise competitors that water temperature is currently 20.2°C and being monitored and may be ‘wetsuit optional’.

Water temperature will be checked at 6:30am on Saturday (please don’t phone the venue in the meantime, wetsuits are not available for hire at the venue) to determine if the first races will be ‘wetsuit optional’ (if the temperature is between 18-20°C degrees). An announcement will made on Brisbane Swimming Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BrisbaneSwimmingAssociation).

FINA By-Law 8.5 states that with “water temperature below 20°C, men and women may use either swimsuits (BL 8.4) or wetsuits. When the water temperature is below 18°C, the use of wetsuits is compulsory.”

If the temperature is above 20°C, wetsuits are not permitted. Further temperature checks will be performed later in the day to confirm if the 2.5km, 1.25km and Relay races will be ‘wetsuit optional’.

Swimmers may choose to opt out of racing if their event is ‘wetsuit optional’ and they no longer wish to swim; refunds will be provided in this instance. Please email Swimming Brisbane at admin@swimmingbrisbane.org.au.
